Designed for families of multilingual learners, this interactive session explores how language development begins at home and how parents play a powerful role in supporting their child’s success in school. Parents will learn about the new English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) and how these standards help children build listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills across all subject areas. Together, we will discover simple, meaningful ways to strengthen language learning through everyday conversations, storytelling, reading, and family experiences—while honoring and celebrating the home language as an important foundation for learning.

How to Help Your Elementary Child with 'New Math'
August 27, 2026
9 am - 10:30 am
Session ID: 119187

Do you find yourself saying, "That’s not how I learned it" during homework time? You aren't alone. "New Math" isn't about making things harder—it’s about building a deeper understanding of why numbers work the way they do. Join us for an interactive, judgment-free workshop designed to bridge the gap between the way you learned math and the way your child is learning it today. We’ll demystify the tools, pictures, and diagrams, trade frustration for "aha!" moments, and give you practical tools to support your child without needing a math degree.
