What is Living Science?

The Living Science Department provides districts, private schools, and charters that have joined the Living Science Cooperative, access to both living and non-living materials for cross-curricular use in the classroom. We have a variety of items that can enhance teachers' lesson plans, creating a hands-on learning experience in reading, math, science, social studies, and more!

What does that mean?

Much like students can check out a book from the school library for 2 weeks, teachers can check out animals or other teaching resources for their classroom for 2 weeks.

I'm not a Science teacher. Can I still order?

Yes. Any teacher can check out items for your classroom. We also have several varieties of aquarium fish, gerbils, hamsters and other animals that you can keep as classroom pets.

How do I receive my items?

Our drivers deliver your items to your school drop-off location once a week on the delivery day for your school district. Local schools have 1 drop-off point at each school campus. Out of town schools have 1 drop-off point per district.

Or, if you prefer, you can pick up your items in the Living Science department at Education Service Center Region 20.

How do I return my items?

You simply leave it at the drop-off point of your school before the morning of your designated delivery date. Or, if you prefer, you can bring it to the Living Science department at Education Service Center Region 20.

How do I know if my school or district is in the Co-op?

If your district or school is in the Co-op and you are able to order materials or check out animals, you can click on the buttons below and find your school.

My school or district is on the list, but it's in red. What does that mean?

If your school is listed, it means that we provide service in your area. If it's in red, that means that your district is not currently enrolled in the Co-op. Talk to your administrators about the possibility of joining. We'd love to provide you with exciting resources for you and your students to enhance their learning experience.

My school or district is not on the list, or it is, but it's in red. How can our school be added to the Co-op?

The administration of your district or school can click on the button below and join the Co-op.

Your students will thank you.
