Remote Learning - The learners engage with content from their homes. The instructor strives to re-create a classroom environment through scheduled class meetings and structured activities and assignments to build to the course objectives.

Defined as two-way, real-time, live, instruction between teachers and students, through the computer or other electronic devices or over the phone.

Synchronous Instruction - Requires all participants to be present at the same time, virtually

Defined as a curricular experience where students engage in the learning materials on their own time, interacting intermittently with the teacher via the computer or other electronic devices or over the phone

Asynchronous Instruction - Does not require all participants to be virtually present at the same time

Conduct an inventory of student and teachers’ access to computers and reliable internet connections in their homes.	Review relevant policy at the local levels and work with policymakers to clarify open questions and gray areas. Institute a plan and mechanism for quick communication with teachers, parents, and students.	Establish educational activities that are able to be equitably sustained while students are away from school.
Train administration, teachers, staff, students, and families on implementation of the learning continuity plan, online teaching and learning, instructional resources, and technology tools.	In addition to inventory and access, investigate critical learning transactions on different types of devices. Leverage expertise of broadband experts to expand access temporarily.	Assess the efficacy of remote learning and design a plan for continuous growth.
