The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR™) was introduced during the 2011-2012 school year. STAAR™ included the 12 end-of-course (EOC) assessments mandated by SB 1031 in 2007 and the new grade 3–8 assessments mandated by HB 3 in 2009. The number of assessments was recently changed in HB 5 during the 83rd Legislature and reduced from 12 EOCs to 5. ESC, Region 20 has compiled the following resources from the Texas Education Agency in order to assist districts and campuses in preparing for STAAR assessments.
Due to recent changes in legislation impacting state assessment and graduation requirements, we are updating the content of our STAAR resources webpage. To learn more about these changes please, visit our House Bill 5 information page and click on the “HB 5 Assessments Summary” and the “HB5 Graduation Summary.” These documents, in addition to other resources on the House Bill 5 page, can help you to understand the changes and structure of STAAR Assessments and their correlation to graduation plans and requirements.
