The Region 20 Civics Training Program (CTP) helps Texas educators meet state civics requirements by providing TEA‑approved professional learning that strengthens civics instruction, supports civil discourse, and equips campuses to develop informed, engaged students.
 
Key Program Information
  • Requirement: Elementary campuses must send one K-5th grade teacher and the campus principal beginning Summer 2026
  • Format: Two‑day, in‑person training
  • Hours: 12 CPE hours
  • Focus Areas: Founding documents, civil discourse, media literacy, and democratic simulations
  • Structure: Interactive sessions with embedded assessments
  • Completion: Certificate provided
  • Stipend: Teachers may be eligible for a $600 stipend if training occurs outside contract hours
