Accountability & Assessment

Focus groups comprised of key stakeholders statewide have redesigned the Texas Accountability System to address statutory policy goals for improving student achievement, determining levels of progress toward advanced performance, closing achievement gaps, and promoting post-secondary readiness through recommended and advanced graduation programs. Increased rigor and readiness have become commonplace terms with the transition to the STAAR assessment and the roll out of this accountability system.

A-F Accountability Ratings

The passing of HB 22 during the 85th Texas Legislative session established three domains by which academic achievements of districts and campuses will be measured. 

The three Domains are:
  • Student Achievement
  • School Progress and
  • Closing the Gaps

On August 14, 2020 all districts and campuses will receive a rating of A, B, C, D or F in each domain as well as an overall performance. The 2020 A-F Accountability ratings will be the third such rating for all of the school districts and charters in Texas. The 2020 Accountability A-F rating assigned to campuses will be their second A-F rating.

Accountability Support Services

ESC-20 provides accountability support to LEAs and Campuses in meeting and improving Student Achievement as related to the requirements of each Accountability System. ESC-20 staff provides ongoing Technical Assistance to both Districts and Campuses throughout the year, specific to the area of need.
