State Accountability

2022-2023

A-F Refresh The refresh in 2022-23 is based on more than two years of feedback from stakeholders. As part of the continuous improvement process, the Texas Education Agency (TEA), has consulted with stakeholders on enhancements to the accountability system. The enhancements described in the A-F framework are designed to provide parents, community members, and educators with the data essential to drive improved outcomes for all Texas children.

Updated 2023 A-F Refresh Overview and Summary (November 2023) provides a broad overview of the A-F Refresh, including design commitments, timeline, and a technical summary of the A-F changes

2020-2021

Due to the impact of COVID-19, all districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and campuses, will receive a label of Not Rated: Declared State of Disaster for 2021. Although raw and scaled overall scores and domain A–F ratings will not be assigned, all available accountability data will be published.

2019-2020

Due to the disruptions caused by COVID-19, all districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and campuses, received the label of Not Rated: Declared Disaster in 2020.*

The rating label indicates that due to extraordinary public health and safety circumstances, the closure of schools during the state's testing window inhibited the ability of the state to accurately measure district and campus performance.

While no ratings will be issued in 2020, an overall rating or domain rating of D or F in 2019 and an overall rating or domain rating of D or F in 2021 will be considered consecutive for the determination of multiple-year unacceptable status.

*When a district or campus receives a Not Rated: Declared State of Disaster label, the district or campus shall continue to implement the previously ordered sanctions and interventions.
