The Texas Education Agency, along with the Inclusion in Texas State Initiative, offers bundle of trainings to help educators, related service providers and parents access courses that have been selected to meet their professional development needs. The mission of Texas Technology Access Program is to increase access for people with disabilities to Assistive Technology that provides them more control over their immediate environments and an enhanced ability to function independently. They develop programs to improve access, advocacy, and awareness of Assistive Technology to meet the needs of Texans with disabilities.
Assistive technology (AT) enables students with disabilities to access the curriculum, increase independence and participate actively in education and life activities. Assistive technology does not always mean the use of an electronic device. It also includes low tech items such as pencil grips and timers. The Texas SPED Support website offers a variety of resources and guides for assistive technology.
