Online Compliance Courses

 
 
ESC-20 offers seventeen (17) Online Compliance Courses for 2020-2021 based on federal and state requirements. The courses are updated annually to reflect the latest revisions to federal and state policies. Each course is one (1) CPE hour of credit (unless indicated otherwise) and participants receive a certificate upon completion.

Anaphylaxis and Severe Allergic Reactions:
The purpose of this course is to help you understand what anaphylaxis is, learn common sources of allergies that can cause anaphylaxis (such as food allergies), how it can be prevented and how to manage anaphylactic emergencies.

Bloodborne Pathogens:
The purpose of this module is to educate staff professionals about Bloodborne Pathogens and Exposure Control Plans to prevent the spread of these diseases.

Bullying:
Bullying is one of the most underrated yet enduring problems in schools today and is a reality in the lives of all children whether they are bullies, victims or witnesses. School administrators, teachers, and staff will quickly grasp what bullying is, how to respond to bullying, and how to prevent bullying from happening in their schools.

Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and Maltreatment of Children (2 CPE Credits):
In partnership with the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center, this course teaches individuals who work with children on a daily basis about the signs and symptoms of child abuse. Professionals will learn facts about child abuse, including the factors that indicate a child is at-risk, how to recognize physical and behavioral signs of the varying forms of child abuse, as well as many other important details for reporting. References to the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center may be noted as "DCAC" in this course.


Concussions Can Be Serious:
This course is designed to give the appropriate school personnel a thorough understanding of concussion-related matters.

Copyright Law:
This training discusses copyright law and “FAIR USE” guidelines in using copyrighted printed material, music, videos and software.

Diabetes Overview:
Are you prepared for diabetes in the classroom?
As an educator you have broader responsibilities than just teaching. Since diabetes is the fastest growing chronic condition in the United States today, you must be prepared to meet the needs of the diabetic child.

Le preparan para la diabetes en la sala de clase? Pues un educador usted tiene responsabilidades más amplias que apenas enseñando. Puesto que la diabetes es la condición crónica más de crecimiento rápido de los Estados usted debe ser preparado para cubrir las necesidades del niño diabético. Este curso le familiariza con el tipo I y el diabetes tipo II, cómo ayudar a manejar la enfermedad, y asegura la salud y el bienestar de ésos en su cuidado.



Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA): 
This training examines the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), also known as the Buckley Amendment. Teachers learn about restrictions on sharing student information as well as the rights of parents in examining student records and instructional materials.

Illegal Steroid Use:
The goal of this course is to provide school personnel with information on the dangers of abusing steroids, possible signs of steroid abuse, and ways to prevent steroid abuse.

Section 504
This training outlines the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Guidelines are given for determining the eligibility of students with disabilities that may hamper a major life activity. The purpose and duties of the Section 504 committee are outlined. Teachers learn about their role in enforcing the 504 Plan in the classroom.

Sexual Harassment
This training defines types of sexual harassment and gives examples of each. The training includes examples of court cases and legal precedents related to sexual harassment.

Substance Abuse:
This training goes over the subject of substance abuse. You will learn about substance abuse, addiction, how it affects the student's brain, as well as commonly abused drugs, how they are used, and where they might be hidden.

Suicide Prevention
This course provides a detailed overview of youth suicide prevention. Participants will learn ways to recognize at-risk/high-risk students and early warning signs as well as ideas on how to intervene and protect students from a possible threat of suicide.

Teen Dating Violence Prevention:  
Teens who experience intimate partner, or dating, violence are at risk for a host of negative outcomes. This online course will include information and resources for House Bill 121, district policy, procedure expectations, statistics, recognizing signs, intervention with the victim and the perpetrator as well as options for parents. Teen dating violence is an ongoing problem for our young people and it is very important that we as educators help them recognize healthy relationships and what to do if they feel they are in an unhealthy relationship.

Texas Educators Ethics:
This course is designed to education professionals on the Texas Educator Code of Ethics. Information on conduct towards colleagues and students, practices, and performance will be shared.

Use of Restraints: 
This course teaches individuals who work with students on a daily basis about the how, when, and what of restraints. You must be aware of this information and comfortable with it, long before you ever need to put it into play.

Use of Time-Outs:
This course teaches individuals who work with students on a daily basis about the how, when, and why of using time-outs. You must be aware of this information and comfortable with it, long before you ever need to put it into play.

 

ESC-20 offers seventeen (17) Online Compliance Courses with three purchasing options for LEA’s to choose from.  The courses are based on federal and state requirements and are annually updated to reflect the latest revisions to federal and/or state policies.

 

Participants receive a certificate upon completion of each course, and LEA’s are provided a mid-year and end-of-year district report for documentation.
