welcome back to science alive today we are featuring a video title just a drop and it features are water trunk in collaboration with Texas Wildlife association called more than a drop and we are really pleased today to help Eleanor Jean who is the education program specialist Texas Wildlife Association yeah so is Peggy said we do have a binder that comes with each time and the binder basically aligns with a lot of the material and the time there's a bunch of different lessons we've talked about what is water we get a bit into this matter we talked about the different sources of water we talked about how water is beneficial to Wildlife so there's a lot of different lessons that align with the materials you get at build an aquifer and things like that we enter a lot of questions in this trunk who needs water and things like that so it's got a bunch of really good stuff inside of it but I wanted to point out. Fence vocabulary list and along with that are two really fun crossword activity puzzle that feature those words and help the kids practice and learn the vocab Harry and the meanings of those for February words also there's a pre-post test which is not only valuable for the kids learning but it's also a valuable tool for evaluation by the teacher and this is real skateboarder use worksheet that allows kids to describe how much water per day for different activities different nice and it's a wonderful map worksheet because you are multiplying by the number of days in the week and are really coming up with Incredible am I opening why are you call sponge off of ours we're basically using different amounts of water out of the how much water different activities kind of like that use flushing the toilet he's in the shower and basically the sponge it runs out of water right so this fund represents the aquifer and you have to fill it up with rain as so you use the Rainmaker bottle and then you have more water could you other other other water used activities cool I like the way you do is restart one of those important to our aquifer and water source so there are three actually different for learning and identifying for evaluation the water cycle lower elementary that that have the words in Upper Elementary and then I wanted to show really cool mat I'll be aquifers South Texas nine major aquifers and 20 minor aquifers and this Hitler map wishes 11 by what is very easy to read a crane to color code and very well March there's a wall of this to that includes all the aquifers and the major Texas rivers so it's bigger easier to see but for my liking the color coding is very desire and we also have another blowup on the Edwards Aquifer which is our major closest aquifer and also right above the equator you included these graphics the different colors on that mean there should be an individual one that shows a cat but we should plan on some of these find the contact a lot of the lessons online to wrestling with the items so we have different ways that students can measure we have various sizes of graduated cylinders we also have cups and measuring spoons as well so depending on how your students are mean to measure and give it a she options they can learn the metric system as well we just graduated cylinders and we have different items for a bus picking so if you've got a water source near school maybe a little rain or something you can actually go and do a study and collect some of these little macaron vertebrate insect larvae got it is insects with Nets and forceps to pick them up find glasses so that's really fun if you guys have a water source neighbors cooler are easily able to find one nearby and just all of these things you can see Ally mold with water we've got this please which is also great for that might go her different study and there's also all water monitoring testing kit that you can use to study the water in your area or this comes with thermometer that comes with on ph and dissolved oxygen tabs and the binder should have all kinds of instructions on the end how to use these different items there isn't a specific lesson that aligns with this but you can use it with any number of lessons is to test the water in your area as well and may be tested in the spring and do check out the trunk again in the fall and do another one of the lessons that we have inside of it did they really did demonstration that shows truly how much water we actually have that we are truly able to fuse basically this is two gallons of water this is what you'd start with his two gallons of water is how teachers however y'all want to gather that we've got it right here in two just so this represents all the water in the world usually what I do this for students I'll ask them about some places you can find water just to kind of get a feel for what they know about different water sources and settled, answers are going to be in the ocean dry rivers lakes stream I don't even go as far as to ask them what other ways can you find water in the world what other what other states of matter and that really just been talking are up in the clouds but there's also water in so that's kind of how I start the left in it alright let's open one and out of all the water in the world we're going to take out some and separate it because most of the water in the world and back 90% 97 so we're going to take out 3% of that all the water in the world and that is installed so how much do I take out so at least two gallons Just Breathe so that's all the freshwater we have in the world that's all of the water from the aquifers that's all the water from the the length of the rivers and the strain all of that that's this right here so you take it from these two gallons that's your freshwater so my question is that fresh water some of that is ice right if I have to lecture so can we use ice caps and Glaciers is that Waters we can easily access the amount of energy at prom travel to the northern and southern parts of the world to gather that ice and then melt it down we're going to use more water using that then we're going to get from it so really we can't use the ice caps and Glaciers right not that two thirds of this one cup gear 2/3 of a cup of water is going to be alright Snapple Lady of traffic so I'm sorry I didn't know 1/3 measuring this is still freshwater and this is more than that but is ice caps and Glaciers and we can tell you I've got some that I'm going to replace you with this vicious ice water in its solid form so I'll leave left from our to gallon right now is a third of a cup 1/3 of a cup represent all the remaining freshwater in the world and it was like the most rivers and there's also first so I would like to know how much of this in the office how do we separate house so what we do from here is first of all we've got to figure out how much it is in rivers and the lake so if we were to take a tablespoon of this water here or we go so I'm not even going to for this because I'm going to make a mess but if we just about one tablespoon to this table soon is the rivers in the lake all the surface water so I'm going to pour that and then this water that remains is what we have in our aquifer so a lot of the water Brown is actually in he's our rock formations that are underground that hold a lot of our water so those mats that Peggy showed a little while ago those were the APA format so this remaining water if you look at that compared to the rivers in the lake thinking how big and how many rivers and lakes are in the world that's what represent in this demonstration versus quite a lot more water from the aquifer so it's very important to conserve water and the aquifer water in particular it actually houses a lot of the water that we use in the world to 55% in Texas 55% of the water we use comes from I believe it then that's why we hear so much about Aquaphor weather report and saying if that's a first down so many things and it  but usually it's down wonderful month of rain today thank you for your help with this demonstration and I'm sure that the boys and girls to see this video are going to have a much better idea of how valuable water how precious it is is there anything else you'd like to say about Texas Wildlife Association they have some but we also have discoveries available as well we have lots of different types of trunks and in addition to trunks we offer a lot of other educational programs do we have video conferences and we also have a handful of programs that we kind of collar on demand programs so those are pre reported teachers are able to watch those anytime I'm there completely free at the their Interactive Kids get that answer questions they learn a lot of things about adaptation motorcycles the wheels they have all different kinds of programs that's really great and we even have
