2024 TIA Application Timeline and Supports

If your district will be submitting a TIA application for a new local designation system or to expand/modify an existing system, please review TEA's tips and reminders.

Timeline

The deadline for new TIA System (Cohort G), Expansion and Modification, and Renewal applications is April 15, 2024.

  • Districts that submit complete applications by the deadline will receive scores and feedback by May 31.
  • Districts whose applications do not meet Full Readiness by May 31 will have an opportunity to address the feedback and resubmit their application by June 30.
  • Final application acceptance notifications will be sent out in early August.

Application Tips

  • Open only in Excel, Microsoft 365. Do not use Google Sheets or online versions.
  • Do not add, hide, or delete any columns in the application, as this could corrupt the application file.
  • Be sure to answer all required questions completely.
  • Check your application answers against the TIA 2024 Scoring Rubric.
  • Read the Directions Tab.
  • Register to attend March Office Hours

Weighting Tab Dos and Don’ts

Do
Don't
Do combine into the same Teaching Category all eligible teaching assignments that share the same student growth measure/same assessment at the same weight. Don’t combine into the same Teaching Category eligible teaching assignments that use different assessments.
Do select the option for “Third Party Vendor” in the drop-down menu for who sets expected growth targets if the assessment being used does in fact set expected growth targets. (Be sure you know whether the assessment you are using comes with expected growth targets or not. Some do and some do not. Consult the Third Party Assessment List if you have questions.) Don’t select option for “Third Party Vendor” in the drop-down menu for who sets expected growth targets if the assessment being used does not set expected growth targets. Some common examples include: TX-KEA, Circle, AP Exams, Precision Exams, Fitnessgram, TELPAS, etc.
Do identify which teaching assignments belong in each Teacher Category, specifically. Don’t use general, non-specific teams to describe teacher assignments such as “core teachers”
Do ensure the weights for the Teacher Observation component, the Student Growth Measure component, and the Optional component (if using) equal 100%. Don’t select student growth measures that your district is not using.
Do ensure that the Service IDs on the Eligible Teacher Tab reflect the Teacher Categories on the Weighting Tab. Don’t select Service IDs on the Eligible Teacher Tab that are not included on the Weighting Tab.
Do ensure that the assessment(s) used covers the content for each of the eligible teaching assignments in the Teacher Category. (Not all tests cover all content areas. Consult the  Third Party Assessment List for information on the content/grade levels covered by each assessment.) Don’t list an assessment for a content area/grade level that the assessment does not cover. Some common examples include: using NWEA MAP for advanced high school math beyond Algebra II, using STAAR Transition Tables for 3rd grade, using iStation in English beyond 8th grade or iStation Lectura (in Spanish) beyond 5th grade, etc.
